Happy Spring!! To All EP Martial Arts Students and Friends
Thanks to you we made it through one of the toughest years ever!!
We are very grateful to all of you, long timers as well as new students!!
Let’s keep training hard together and make the best ever version of ourselves! We can be stronger, more confident and ultimately more able to defend ourselves and our families. Also we can be more effective in our daily lives through the confidence gained from training.
Thanks to everyone that participated in the tournament last Thursday! We are really proud of how so many people stepped up to test their skills and courage in a higher pressure environment. Everyone did fantastic and had a great time!
We have had many requests to make the tournament a regular feature of our training at our school and we agree so we’re going to make it happen it will be about every 10-12 weeks depending on the calendar. We are starting to plan the next one we’ll be in touch in a few weeks with our next email to announce the schedule and the plan.
Ty and I have different reasons for promoting these tournaments.
Ty wants you to learn how tournaments work and get comfortable competing in case anyone wants to compete in local or national Sanda tournaments. Every time you participate in a tournament you improve. One tournament equals 10 classes. If you want to improve then compete!
Ty has a ton of experience with competition. Ty won New England championships himself and he coached Max to two National Sanda Championships.
I want you to compete because you learn several skills you won’t learn in reality based self defense, RBSD) The best Krav Maga fighters also participate in sport fighting competition.
You learn that if you have a fight coming up you train harder. In RBSD we train hard but truth be told usually not like we’re going to be in the ring next month
You learn to deal with adrenaline rushing through your body. You may not have that in RBSD.
You learn to deal with being hit. That is import so that if you are in a real fight you don’t freak out when you get hit. Sparring can help you to withstand an attack better.
On the other hand even professional MMA fighters have been killed in fights because they aren’t familiar with street type attacks. Sport martial arts don’t train to deal with knife or gun or multiple attackers.
We feel to be the best you can be you need to train RBSD AND participate in a combat sport like Sanda.
We’ll be in touch soon to announce upcoming events. Thanks again for all your loyalty and support through this difficult time for us all.
Ty and Bart
